How We Met
Kaitlin and Vincent met while they were studying at The Kings University during Covid. During our English class online, we ended up in a breakout room together where we had to share the poetic components a song of their choice. Vincent picked the song “Stereo Hearts” by Gym Class Heroes, and Kaitlin picked “Must’ve Never Met You” by Luke Combs. Vincent sent Kaitlin a chat over Zoom during the class asking what Luke Combs songs she would recommend for him to listen to, being that he hadn’t heard any of his music before. That was the start of their relationship. And no…Kaitlin still hasn’t gotten him to like Luke Combs yet.
They stayed friends for a year and a half before finally deciding to make it official on May 21, 2022. Three years later, they are best friends, each other’s biggest cheerleader, and can’t wait to start the rest of their lives together.
“She was in love with me from the moment we met. She just didn’t realize it. Or wants to admit it.”
— Vincent
“After 1.5 years of friendship, and 3 rejections, we finally started dating. I found a love I didn’t know existed, despite it being right in front of me the whole time.”
— Kaitlin
The Proposal
At the moment of their first kiss, Vincent knew that this was the girl he wanted to marry. Through subtle and natural conversations, he knew her ring size within a month of dating.
Three years later, the proposal plan was in full swing. His mission was simple; buy the perfect ring, have her family on-site, and acquire a photographer. However, plans that have a simple outline never turn out to be simple at all.
Kaitlin’s parents gave Vincent their blessing to have their daughter’s hand in marriage. Her family was also an integral part in making sure this proposal was a true surprise. But through cross-examination, about two weeks before the proposal date Kaitlin pieced it together that it was happening. Her family and Vincent had to pivot the plan to keep her off the scent.
The day before the proposal, Vincent and Kaitlin went to a lake to take “couple photos.” And the whole time, Vincent had to act like he was about to propose. He kept fiddling with his pocket, wouldn’t let her walk on his left side, and got ‘disappointed’ when ‘their spot’ was occupied. When Kaitlin went home that evening, she expressed to her family how sad she was because she thought she was getting proposed to. Which was all part of Vincent’s plan.
On September 21st, 2025, Vincent proposed. Kaitlin’s sister, Shaina, took Kaitlin around Spruce Grove to run some errands while their parents snuck out the house to meet Vincent and Nagel at Chickakoo Lake. When Shaina got the text that we were ready, they made their way there too.
Kaitlin walked the trail until she finally turned the corner where we were all waiting. Adrian, Darla, and Nagel stood there each holding a single rose. Kaitlin approached each of them, gave them a hug, and they handed her their rose. At the end, Vincent stood waiting. There wasn’t a single dry eye in the vicinity. He took her hand and walked her over to ‘their spot’. Rose pedals blanketed the grass as Vincent spoke his little promise to her. He knelt down on one knee, revealed a diamond ring, and asked her the one question he’s been dying to ask since their first kiss.
She said yes.
And the rest is history
We can’t wait to celebrate our love with our closest family and friends!
